Report: Russia pledges symmetrical response to EU asset yield use
MOSCOW, Dec 21 (PRIME) -- Russia will respond to possible spending of the yield on frozen assets by the E.U. symmetrically, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told channel Rossiya 24 on Thursday.
"If this decision is made, an absolutely symmetrical response from the Russian Federation will follow," Siluanov said.
"We have a sufficient amount of assets frozen here, placed on so-called type C accounts, too. There are our liabilities on securities, on dividends, those that are our liabilities to the foreign counteragents from the unfriendly states. They are all in freeze. The figures are impressive. The yield on the use of these funds can be used likewise if the unfriendly partners decide to do this," the minister said.
Last week the European Commission approved proposals on the first steps to use the yield on frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
